1969年埼玉県出身。宇都宮短期大学音楽科卒業後、1997年よりプロ活動を開始。

2003年より「工藤雄一トリオ」を始動し、これまでに『The Sky』『Sleeping Woods』をリリース。

2011年、世界的なベーシストである森泰人氏のコーディネートによりスウェーデン・ヨーテボリにて、

森氏（ベース）および北欧を代表するドラマー、ヨーラン・クローン氏と共にレコーディングを行う。

翌年、このメンバーによるアルバム『Birth ～Longing For Sweden～』を発表。

山野楽器銀座本店JAZZ部門チャートで2位を記録するなど、

本場北欧の空気感を纏った叙情的なサウンドで国内外から高い評価を得た。

2023年、パーキンソン病の診断を受ける。

身体的な変化に直面するも、音楽への情熱は絶えることなく、

自身の奏法を抜本的に見直す「演奏方法の再構築」に着手。

2024年、カイドーユタカ(Ba)、国場幸孝(Dr)と共に第3期トリオとして再始動。

スウェーデンでのレコーディングや現地ミュージシャンとの共演を経て培われた培われた感性は、

奏法の再構築を経てさらなる進化を遂げた。

肉体的な制約を「表現の深化」へと昇華させたその演奏は、

一音一音に凄みのある覚悟を宿し、削ぎ落とされた音の隙間に流れる「静寂」さえも饒舌に物語を紡ぐ。

Born in Saitama, Japan, in 1969, Yuichi Kudo began his professional career as a jazz pianist in 1997. In 2011, Kudo traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden, under the coordination of world-renowned bassist Yasuhito Mori. There, he recorded with Mori and Göran Kroon, one of Scandinavia’s leading drummers. The resulting album, Birth ~Longing For Sweden~ (2012), reached No. 2 on the Yamano Music Ginza Jazz Chart and earned high praise for its lyrical sound, shaped by his direct experience with the authentic Nordic jazz scene.

Following his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 2023, Kudo faced significant physical challenges. However, his dedication to his craft remained unyielding. He embarked on a profound journey to fundamentally "reconstruct" his playing method, adapting his technique to his evolving physical sensations.

In 2024, he marked a new chapter with the third generation of his trio, featuring Yutaka Kaido (Bass) and Yoshitaka Kokuba (Drums). The refined sensitivity he developed through his time in Sweden and collaborations with Nordic musicians has now reached a new level of maturity. By transforming physical constraints into a "deepening of expression," every note now carries a powerful sense of resolve. Even the silences between the notes speak eloquently, weaving a narrative of resilience and spiritual depth.
